About the role

As a Building Control Surveyor, you’ll be part of a supportive and experienced team delivering a high-quality, customer-focused service. You’ll work on a wide range of projects, from housing and healthcare to commercial developments, helping ensure compliance with building regulations and safety standards.

You’ll be supported to progress through the Building Inspector Competence Framework (BICoF), gaining valuable experience and CPD along the way. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to take the next step, this is a great opportunity to grow your career in a dynamic and rewarding environment.

What you’ll do

  • Assess building control applications and carry out site inspections
  • Provide advice to clients, contractors, and the public
  • Ensure compliance with the Building Act 1984, Building Regulations 2010, and Building Safety Act 2022
  • Respond to dangerous structures and emergency situations (with support)
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to service improvements

What we’re looking for

  • Unregistered or registered as a Class 1 Building Inspector, to be supported in obtaining a Class 2 registration, or:
  • Experience in building control, including plan checking and site inspections
  • Strong communication and IT skills
  • A full driving licence or access to mobility support
  • A positive, customer-focused approach and a willingness to learn

Salary: £25,992 – £40,476 (career grade progression based on validation.

Pension: Outstanding employer contribution (approx. 18.9%)

Leave: 28 days rising to 32 after 5 years (2 of which can be set by the Council), plus up to 10 extra days purchasable
