As part of a growing division, we are looking for a Head of Fire Safety to lead our Fire Safety consultancy business, which includes delivery of Fire Engineering and Fire Risk Management work packages along all RIBA stages of a building lifecycle. You will lead and develop our fire safety team delivering projects within a variety of buildings sector and due to the multidisciplinary nature of Arcadis, opportunities to support other assets such as Rail, Water and Industrial facilities also arise.
As the Head of Fire Safety, you will implement the strategy for our fire safety team, which includes expanding the fire safety capability at Arcadis in Fire Risk Management Fire Engineering and External Facades. To achieve this, you will deliver the business plan for the fire safety team by supporting existing clients and developing new opportunities, growing the revenue, and expanding the team capability and capacity.
As part of your role, you will apply your Fire Safety experience by assisting in the delivery of project to meet budget, timeframe and quality targets, meeting, or exceeding client expectations, promoting and marketing all facets of Arcadis’ services during interfaces with clients and other sectors and disciplines, contributing towards the achievement of the divisional business plan and to build Arcadis’ brand and networks within the industry.
In the role you will be expected to:
Demonstrate capability to influence the Arcadis business and the development of the Fire Safety Communities of Practice, Service Capabilities and Value Propositions.
Generate high margin and consulting sales through collaborative working, across our client sectors, and engaging proactively with clients to develop new routes to revenue.
Lead exceptional client outcomes through service excellence across multiple, complex capability areas in challenging and risky environments by cultivating insights and solutions, and innovate our service offering with clients and within Arcadis.
Offer professional opinion on key matters of fire safety to share publicly through LinkedIn, technical blogs etc.
Seek out opportunities for public speaking on fire related matters to raise the profile of the Arcadis fire safety team.
To positively lead and engage with the SHE agenda and to embrace diversity, inclusion and well-being in the working environment.
Support Community and Non-project initiatives that positively impact our ability to retain and attract top talent.
Lead the development of the UK fire safety team and delivery of projects ensuring client satisfaction, effective project management and good communication and collaboration between Arcadis colleagues.
Engage with the client and all key stakeholders to develop a shared understanding of project objectives and to establish protocols for working together.
Select, lead and develop the project team, to ensure they have the necessary skills to deliver the project, they understand and are engaged with the project strategy, brief and client requirements, and to manage their delivery of project objectives.
Lead the preparation of specialist elements of bids, to support the production of high-quality winning bids.
Coach and mentor specialist professionals to support the development of Arcadis talent pool.
Exceptional experience and recognised leader in fire safety engineering within a consultancy environment and experience in business development including client facing, project proposals and financial management.
Experience in developing and authorising fire safety strategy reports, fire safety audits and developing fire risk assessments.
Contributor to discussions and consultations on national events and regulations.
Proven track record in team leadership and experience in managing business relationships at senior management level, including responsibility for managing team budgets.
Understanding of fire dynamics, heat transfer and smoke behaviour principles in enclosed environments, Passive Fire Protection (PFP) and Active Fire Protection (AFP) systems; measures (e.g., fire compartmentation and its elements: fire doors, cavity barriers etc.)
Knowledge on the recognised computer models used in the fire safety engineering industry, including CFD and FDS fire modelling (SMARTFIRE, Pyrosim) and evacuation modelling (EXODUS)
Deep understanding of Building Regulations and Building Control Approval and Planning Process
Knowledge of façade/cladding survey and assessment, along with provision of EWS1 forms to property owners
Chartered engineer (CEng) and Member of The Institution of Fire Engineers (MIFireE)
