We are looking for a commercially focused Building Control Manager, to deliver high quality professional services for our customers and provide effective leadership to a newly formed team.

By joining us as a Building Control Manager at Buckinghamshire Council, you’ll have the ability to drive change and shape the Building Control team, taking into account new legislation being introduced.

About the role

The Building Control Manager is responsible for leading the provision of expert professional advice and delivery of effective regulatory services in Building Control, providing a consistent, high quality and competitive service that is responsive to customer demands to facilitate appropriate development of a high construction standard and to protect the people within Buckinghamshire.

With a strong and supportive senior management team behind you, you’ll play a critical role in helping us achieve our Planning and Environment Business plan and drive forward our vision as a new unitary authority.

About you

Naturally, you’ll have excellent interpersonal, persuasion, and negotiation skills with experience of building and maintaining key relationships with delivery partners, suppliers and customers.

You will be commercially focused, positively promoting and selling services in order to increase revenue gain and market share. Alongside this you will have proven experience in budget planning and management.

You will have a high level of personal expertise and experience in Building Control. You will be able to provide expert advice on major issues, including major emergency incidents and dangerous structures on behalf of the Council.

You are committed to the delivery of continuous improvements in all aspects of Building Control including innovations to provide a customer orientated service, which enables customer to self-serve, making the best use of technology.

You will have degree in a relevant subject (or relevant work experience), full membership of RICS, CIOB or CABE and evidence of continuous professional development.
