Job Description

This is a great opportunity for an experienced surveyor to join a small but dedicated team based in Milton Keynes.

You will need to have relevant experience in a senior position in Building Control or a similar discipline and have a sound working understanding of the Building Regulations.

We specialise in matters affecting the acoustic performance of new buildings, both at the design stage and during construction. A good understanding of sound transmission and Part E of the Regulations would be very useful but a willingness to learn and a commitment to raising standards is more important to us.

This is a time of change for everyone in and around the building control profession and we are looking for the right person to help us to continue to provide compliance certainty and cost effective technical solutions for the industry.

The Technical Manager will be responsible for leading the technical function, including:

- Assessing designs and reviewing test data to establish compliance with Part E.
- Carrying out inspections of work in progress, as required.
- Carrying out duties in accordance with our UKAS-accredited QA procedures.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with customers and other stakeholders.
- Knowledge transfer, including preparing and presenting technical papers.
- Advising and supporting the CEO in all matters ‘technical’, including interpretation and application of Building Regulations’ Requirements.
- Managing the work of staff, consultants and subcontractors as required.

Experience & Skills Required:

- RICS/CABE/CIOB membership.
- Minimum of 5 years' post-qualification experience in the role of Building Inspector or similar position.
- A good understanding of building control and Building Safety Act requirements.
- Keen attention to detail and good organisational skills.
- Good customer-facing and presentation skills.
- An excellent team worker with a flexible approach to problem-solving.
- A commitment to raising standards in building.
