Job Description

Building Control Partnership Ltd are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Registered Building Inspector (RBI) to join our company.

The company operates as a Registered Building Control Approver, providing a quality service to our clients and building control inspection services throughout the United Kingdom.

With this in mind, we seek an individual who is passionate about building control, works with integrity and honesty and is willing to help the company grow.

You will take responsibility for a challenging and varied workload with a range of clients and be based primarily on site, within the Swindon area and where required in a varied number of locations around the UK such as London.

There may occasionally be a requirement to attend our offices in Beverley, East Yorkshire for training purposes, however your base will usually be from home and as such you will be provided with necessary IT and phone equipment.

The position requires a sound understanding of domestic and commercial construction, a willingness to travel and the post holder must be able to work with the rest of the team to ensure that the business operates efficiently.

We seek an individual that holds a minimum of a Class 2 Registered Building Inspector status with the BSR. Evidence will be required to support this.

You will have a minimum of a degree qualification in a construction related subject (or equivalent e.g. an appropriate NVQ Level 6 in a construction related subject) or for the right candidate, be willing to work towards this qualification.

Ideally you will also be a chartered member of the The Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE), Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and/or The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) or a demostrable equivalant. If you do not currently have professional membership you must be willing to work towards this.

You will have at least 2 years experience of inspecting a range of development types and determining compliance under the Building Regulations.

The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of the Building Regulations, Approved Documents and applicable British Standards.

You will be IT proficient with a working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and have some experience of interpreting building control drawings to determine the works taking place and potential issues of compliance.

A full valid driving license is essential.

Salary and benefits

Salary is highly competitive and negotiable and will be commensurate to qualifications and experience.


Exact hours, bonus and holiday entitlement to be agreed but you will be expected to work for 37 hours per week in a full-time position. Part time working hours may be considered for the right candidate (salary will be pro-rata).
