Respondent demographics
- Chartered Members Dominate: 64% are at MCABE or MCABE C.Build E grade, a fifth are Fellows.
- Long-standing Membership: 42% have been members for more than 15 years.
Geographic spread
- Southern region: 26.5% of respondents
- Southwest: 15%
- East Midlands and Northwest: 10% each
Employment status
- 85% work full time
- 67.5% work in building control
- 7% are in surveying roles
Seniority and salary
- A quarter are managers/supervisors
- Just under 25% are coordinators/employees
Salary brackets
- 21% earn £50k–£59,999
- 16% earn £60k–£69,999
- More than half earn more than £50k
Membership grade and pay
- MCABE C.Build E holders: 57% earn more than £50k
- ACABE holders: 29% earn more than £50k
- There is a clear link between higher grade and higher earnings
Industry challenges
- 60% report workloads are over capacity
- 25% feel overwhelmed
- Skills shortages persist while expectations rise
Value of CABE Membership
- 77% say membership helped career progression
- 90% would recommend CABE to a colleague
- Membership is perceived as a mark of competence and commitment to CPD and standards.
