Are you an experienced and enthusiastic individual who is able to provide effective leadership of our Building Control Team? Do you want to work in a friendly and supportive organisation and enjoy excellent working relationships with elected members?

You will be working with and leading an experienced and committed team of building inspectors and a structural engineer, currently handling around 750 building regulation applications a year. You will be responsible for providing the lead on building control matters raised in the day to day running of the service. In addition you should be able to manage a diverse and challenging workload of your own. There will be considerable scope for personal development in terms of the flexibility of the role and the range of work.

With considerable Building Control experience, you will have achieved corporate membership of Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE) or Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and have a recognised degree qualification in Building Surveying (or equivalent qualification).

In return, we offer excellent office accommodation five minutes’ walk from Epsom railway station, heavily subsidised parking if needed, an attractive salary, performance related pay, professional membership subscription fees and eligibility to join the Local Government Pension Scheme. Epsom & Ewell Borough Council is an equal opportunities employer.

It has excellent transport communications into central London. Epsom, where the Council offices are located, is only 35 minutes from London (Waterloo).

The borough is home to the world famous Derby and a number of high quality educational institutes including the University of Creative Arts and North East Surrey College of Technology. Over half of the borough is open green space with over 18 parks including the historic Nonsuch Park and Epsom Downs.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a professional and committed team and we look forward to receiving your application
