Fire Engineer

Job Description

A growing fire safety consultancy is seeking a talented Fire Engineer to support the delivery of fire engineering strategies and technical fire safety solutions across a diverse range of projects.

This opportunity would suit a technically minded Fire Engineer who enjoys a mixture of design, analysis, and project collaboration while contributing to safe and compliant building design.

The Fire Engineer will work within a multidisciplinary team delivering fire strategy reports, supporting modelling and design work, and providing specialist advice to ensure buildings meet current fire safety legislation, British Standards, and recognised industry guidance.

The Fire Engineer's Role

  • Supporting fire engineering teams in the development of fire strategy designs across multiple sectors
    Preparing fire strategy documentation using both prescriptive and performance-based design approaches
    Assisting with fire engineering analysis and computational modelling where required
    Producing clear technical reports outlining methodologies, design assumptions and recommendations
    Attending site visits and inspections to review fire safety measures within buildings
    Managing allocated project tasks, including programme deadlines and technical deliverables
    Liaising with architects, contractors and wider project teams to support compliant design solutions
    Keeping up to date with developments, technologies and regulations within the fire engineering sector
    Supporting graduate engineers and contributing to knowledge sharing within the team
    Working towards professional development and chartered status with a recognised engineering body

The Fire Engineer

  • Degree qualified (BSc, BEng or higher) in Fire Engineering or a related engineering discipline
    Strong analytical and numerical ability
    Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams
    Good problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to technical challenges

Desirable:
Around 2+ years' experience within a fire engineering consultancy or similar environment
Working towards or holding professional membership such as AIFireE
Experience using technical software such as Bluebeam or similar tools
