The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has opened for an Associate Structural Engineer to join a growing, design-focused civil and structural engineering consultancy in their Bristol office.
This is a senior-level position suited to a Chartered Engineer who is looking to step beyond pure project delivery. You ll play a central role in client engagement, business development, and team expansion with the opportunity to shape and grow your own team within an established office of around 12 professionals.
The consultancy delivers high-quality commercial and residential schemes, operating with a boutique approach focusing on carefully selected clients, bespoke engineering solutions, and strong technical excellence, all without the constraints of a large corporate structure.

The Role

As an Associate Structural Engineer, you ll take on a position that blends technical leadership with commercial and client-facing responsibilities, contributing to both successful project delivery and the continued growth of the Bristol office.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading the design and delivery of commercial and residential structural projects
  • Acting as a key client contact and trusted engineering advisor
  • Building and maintaining strong, long-term client relationships
  • Supporting business development and securing repeat and new work
  • Mentoring, managing, and growing a team of engineers
  • Maintaining high standards of technical quality and consistency
  • Collaborating closely with architects and multidisciplinary design teams
  • Contributing to the strategic development and expansion of the Bristol office

About You

We re looking for a confident and commercially aware Chartered Structural Engineer who can bring:
  • Chartered status (MIStructE or MICE)
  • Strong experience delivering commercial and residential projects
  • Proven ability in client-facing roles and relationship management
  • Demonstrable success in business development and winning work
  • Leadership experience, or a clear ambition to build and lead a team
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset
