Senior Fire Engineer

Job Description

A growing multidisciplinary consultancy is seeking a Senior Fire Engineer to join their expanding team.

This Senior Fire Engineer opportunity offers exposure to a diverse portfolio of projects across the built environment, supporting design projects both within and outside of the UK.

The Senior Fire Engineer will deliver technically focused work across a blend of office-based and site activities, alongside active client engagement.

The Senior Fire Engineer's Role

The Senior Fire Engineer will undertake a range of fire engineering duties, supporting projects from early-stage design through to more advanced phases. The Senior Fire Engineer will also contribute to the wider team, ensuring high-quality delivery across all assignments.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Producing fire strategy reports and associated technical documentation
  • Reviewing architectural drawings to identify fire strategy risks and opportunities
  • Carrying out means of escape analysis, including evacuation time calculations
  • Undertaking computational evacuation modelling analysis
  • Supporting fire engineering calculations, including smoke control, radiant heat, and evacuation scenarios
  • Communicating fire strategies clearly to clients and design teams via meetings, calls, and written reports
  • Conducting third-party reviews and design verification
  • Applying UK fire safety legislation and standards to live projects

The Senior Fire Engineer

The ideal Senior Fire Engineer will combine strong technical capability with a proactive and solutions-focused mindset. The Senior Fire Engineer will be confident working both independently and collaboratively, with a clear passion for fire engineering.

Requirements include:

  • A degree in Fire Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • A minimum of 4 years' experience within a Fire Engineering team
  • Working knowledge of regulatory controls and the ability to deliver fire-engineered design solutions
  • A solid understanding of ADB, BS 9999, and BS 9991
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach with strong attention to detail
  • A collaborative team player who shares knowledge and supports colleagues
