Bennett and Game Recruitment are proud to be working with a well-established contractor who are looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute construction professional to take ownership of multiple projects from contract award through to final account, while also supporting project delivery and coordination.
This is a varied role suited to someone who enjoys both commercial management and project support, with the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership and play a key part in successful project delivery.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the commercial and project co-ordination aspects of several live projects, ensuring works are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Review contract documentation including terms and conditions, employer's requirements, drawings, warranties, and bonds
- Provide commercial and contractual advice throughout the lifecycle of each project
- Attend pre-contract and post-contract meetings
- Monitor, price, and agree project variations and change orders
- Prepare and submit monthly applications for payment and manage interim valuations
- Oversee payment tracking and ensure timely agreement of final accounts
- Produce cost value reconciliations (CVRs), forecasts, and cash flow reports
- Support dispute resolution where required
- Prepare tender enquiries and subcontract packages
- Negotiate subcontract terms and place orders
- Manage subcontractor applications, payments, and final accounts
- Help improve internal commercial processes and procedures
- Support junior commercial staff and encourage best practice across the team
Requirements
- Previous experience in a Quantity Surveyor role within construction
- Strong understanding of contract administration, valuations, CVRs, and subcontract management
- Experience working across multiple projects simultaneously
- Good knowledge of construction processes and project delivery
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to build strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams
- Willingness to travel to site when required
