Quantity Surveyor - Lichfield, UK (Contract, Hybrid work pattern)

Our client is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a specialist commercial team delivering high-value facilities management projects across a large UK estate. This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor who enjoys working autonomously, influencing business cases and providing robust cost intelligence on complex programmes valued in excess of 100m.

Key Responsibilities

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a critical role in producing should-cost models, pricing booklets and tender evaluations that directly support strategic investment decisions. Working closely with commercial and wider project teams, the Quantity Surveyor will apply strong analytical skills and commercial judgement to ensure accuracy, value for money and confidence in cost forecasting. Key responsibilities include:

  • Produce detailed should-cost models using in-house historical cost data and BCIS benchmarks.
  • Develop pricing booklets using Excel-based models, adapting templates to suit individual project requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with commercial teams to ensure pricing models align with project scope and strategy.
  • Analyse tender submissions, raise commercial queries, and support pricing evaluations.
  • Prepare clear and concise tender reports in Microsoft Word for inclusion in final business cases.
  • Provide ad-hoc estimating and pricing support across multiple FM projects.
  • Review and validate in-house cost data, identifying inaccuracies or anomalies.
  • Operate independently while engaging with the wider Quantity Surveying team when required.

Requirements

  • Degree-qualified Quantity Surveyor (Quantity Surveying or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 5 years' post-degree experience in a relevant commercial or FM environment.
  • Strong Excel capability, including building and adapting cost models.
  • Proven experience preparing cost estimates, pricing models and tender evaluations.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Important: Due to the requirements of this role, applicants must be eligible for SC clearance.

Working Pattern

  • 3 days per week on site in Lichfield, 2 days working from home.
  • 37hrs per week
