The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate Structural Engineer to join a growing, design-led civil and structural engineering consultancy in their Bristol office.
This is a senior-level position ideally suited to a Chartered Engineer looking to move beyond pure project delivery. You ll play a key role in client engagement, business development, and team growth with the chance to shape and build your own team within an established office of around 12 professionals.
The consultancy delivers high-quality commercial and residential schemes with a boutique approach, focusing on carefully selected clients, bespoke engineering solutions, and technical excellence all without the constraints of a large corporate structure.

The Role

As an Associate Structural Engineer, you ll take on a position that combines technical leadership with commercial and client-facing responsibilities, helping drive both successful project delivery and the continued growth of the Bristol office.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading the design and delivery of commercial and residential structural projects
  • Acting as a key client contact and trusted engineering advisor
  • Building and maintaining strong long-term client relationships
  • Supporting business development and securing repeat and new work
  • Mentoring, managing, and growing a team of engineers
  • Maintaining high standards of technical quality and consistency
  • Collaborating closely with architects and multidisciplinary design teams
  • Contributing to the strategic growth and expansion of the Bristol office

About You

We re looking for a confident and commercially minded Chartered Structural Engineer who can demonstrate:
  • Chartered status (MIStructE or MICE)
  • Strong experience delivering commercial and residential projects
  • Proven success in client-facing roles and relationship management
  • A track record in business development and winning work
  • Leadership experience, or the ambition to build and lead a team
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A proactive, entrepreneurial approach
