The role and responsibilities
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be an integral part of the commercial team, supporting contract delivery and ensuring strong financial performance across projects. You will be doing the following:
Managing applications, valuations, and credit control processes
Overseeing costing, forecasting, and income optimisation
Managing change control systems and contributing to risk management
Producing and managing Cost to Complete (CTC) and Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs)
Managing the full subcontract lifecycle
Providing commercial advice to project teams
Supporting dispute resolution and maintaining strong stakeholder communication
Contributing to tendering processes
Supporting and mentoring junior team members, including an Assistant Quantity Surveyor
Travelling to projects across the UK, including occasional overnight stays
Must have skills and experience
To succeed as a Quantity Surveyor, you will bring:
Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within a contracting environment
Degree, HND or HNC in a relevant discipline
Progress towards a professional qualification (e.g. RICS or similar)
Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial processes
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and related tools
Confidence in coaching, mentoring, and supporting others
Strong communication and organisational skills
