Site Inspector/Clerk of Works

Job Description

Our client is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Site Inspector to support ongoing civil and marine works in the Essex area. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a high-profile infrastructure project, where you will play a key role in ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with design and quality standards.

Please note that, depending on project requirements, there may be a need to work additional hours, including evenings, nights, or weekends. Night shifts are currently operated on a rotating roster, typically following 12 days on, 2 days off pattern, which may include working one weekend in every two. This role will also be 6 days per week to begin with. This position fall outside IR35.

Key Responsibilities

Site Inspection & Project Support

Carry out regular site inspections to ensure compliance with approved designs, specifications, and HSE requirements
Support the delivery of civil and marine construction activities on site
Monitor contractor performance, workmanship, and adherence to project standards
Documentation & Reporting

Maintain accurate site records including daily diaries, progress reports, and photographic evidence
Review key project documentation such as RAMS, ITPs, and material submissions
Identify and report any non-conformances, safety concerns, or quality issues
Professional Standards & Team Support

Uphold our client's professional standards and values at all times
Provide guidance and support to site teams where required

General Duties

Carry out all duties with diligence, professionalism, and attention to detail
Support wider business needs where required, including team cover
Adapt to evolving responsibilities in line with project and business requirements

About You

Engineering qualification (Degree, HNC or equivalent)
Valid CSCS White Card
Full UK driving licence
Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel
Excellent attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced site environment
Strong communication and reporting skills

Duties will involve:

- Regular walking across uneven terrain and active construction areas
- Accessing temporary works, including climbing ladders where required
