The Building Surveyor will play a key role in delivering a wide range of surveying commissions, ensuring projects are well managed, technically robust and commercially successful. You will act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing clear, practical and professional guidance throughout each stage of the project lifecycle.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Running projects effectively, monitoring progress, expenditure and overall performance.
  • Applying strong commercial awareness to support project resourcing and fee management.
  • Providing technical input into bid preparation and wider business development activities.
  • Undertaking building surveys in accordance with company procedures and industry standards.
  • Attending client meetings, presentations and site visits, representing the firm with professionalism.
  • Monitoring day to day programming and planning to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Tracking internal costs, preparing and issuing fee invoices accurately and on time.
  • Liaising directly with clients and key stakeholders, maintaining clear communication throughout.
  • Developing and sustaining long term client relationships built on trust and quality service.
  • Checking and reviewing documents, reports and technical outputs to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensuring full understanding and adherence to all Health & Safety requirements, practices and procedures.

About You

Our ideal Building Surveyor will have:

  • The ability to secure MOD / Police Vetting due to the nature of our projects
  • A RICS accredited degree of 2:1 or above in Building Surveying.
  • Experience delivering projects in both public and private sectors.
  • Knowledge of contract administration (JCT / NEC).
  • Chartered status or actively working towards chartership.
  • Solid understanding of building principles, with the ability to prepare detailed plans and specifications.
  • Ability to monitor project progress and expenditure, providing clear reports.
  • An inquisitive mindset with a creative, solutions-focused approach.
  • Commitment to delivering an exceptional client experience.
  • A professional, compassionate, and collaborative attitude.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and client-facing skills.
