As part of an apprenticeship opportunity, you will work through the Level 6 Chartered Surveyor Degree Apprenticeship (Quantity Surveying & Project Management Pathway) via Nottingham Trent University. You will attend the University on a day release programme to complete the theoretical engineering qualification, supported by a learning mentor, and will complete the apprenticeship and endpoint assessment (EPA) on the job site.
Under the guidance of senior team members you will assist the project commercial team in carrying out project procurement and cost control activities, developing competency in construction methods, technology, measurement standards, contract types, and health and safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain high personal safety and environmental standards per company policy.
- Undertake costing activities under direction, utilising knowledge of the project cost coding structure.
- Measure completed works for allocated sections for interim and final accounts, recording agreements with client and/or subcontract representatives.
- Collate and produce site records necessary for interim and final account payments and cost reports, including materials received records.
- Assist in placing subcontract orders per the main contract.
- Provide financial and surveying related information to senior management, including monthly performance review meetings.
- Measure works for payment and final account purposes.
- Certify and agree on subcontractor accounts.
- Support site management with statistics and surveying information for client meetings.
- Measure operative work for the payment system.
- Liaise with client representatives and team members to ensure effective communication and a cohesive working environment.
- Support operations staff on surveying matters.
- Assist with ICT development.
- Maintain a personal diary relating to your role.
- Provide the estimating department with statistical information for new rates.
- Maintain a suitable filing system.
- Ensure all relevant paperwork is collected and boxed for archiving.
- Apply quality management processes and act upon them.
- Keep up to date with new technology and legislation as appropriate.
- Other duties commensurate with the grade and scope of the post.
Requirements
- A-levels - BBC or BTEC Extended Diploma - DMM or 120 UCAS tariff points from three A-levels (or equivalent).
- GCSEs - 5 at grade A-C (including English and Maths).
- Occasional travel to sites and client offices; a valid driver's licence is required.
