The Role
As Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial team across a range of residential developments, assisting with cost control, subcontractor management, procurement, and commercial reporting.
A key aspect of this role will involve the buying and procurement of construction materials, making this an ideal opportunity for someone with existing procurement experience or a confident and motivated individual eager to develop these skills further.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with the commercial management of residential construction projects
- Supporting the procurement and buying of construction materials
- Obtaining and analysing supplier and subcontractor quotations
- Assisting with valuations, variations, and cost reporting
- Maintaining accurate commercial records and documentation
- Liaising with suppliers, subcontractors, and site teams
- Supporting senior commercial staff with day-to-day project duties
Requirements
- Experience in buying/procurement of construction materials OR a highly confident, proactive, and willing-to-learn attitude to take on procurement responsibilities
- Previous experience within construction or quantity surveying
- Residential experience is advantageous but not essential
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Good commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Proficient IT skills including Microsoft Office
- Full UK driving licence preferred
