An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join an established and growing Fit Out & Joinery Contractor with an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality projects across the commercial, education, healthcare, retail, and workplace sectors.
Following a sustained period of growth and continued success in securing new projects, my client is looking to strengthen its commercial team with the appointment of an Assistant Quantity Surveyor based in Cambridge.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to further develop their career within Quantity Surveying while working alongside an experienced Quantity Surveyor who will provide ongoing support, mentorship, and guidance.

The Role
Working closely with an experienced Quantity Surveyor, you will gain exposure to all aspects of commercial management across a variety of fit out and joinery projects throughout Cambridge and the surrounding areas.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the procurement of subcontractors and suppliers
- Preparing and issuing enquiries
- Supporting the management of subcontractor accounts
- Assisting with valuations and applications for payment
- Monitoring project costs and reporting
- Assisting with variations and change control
- Supporting the preparation of final accounts
- Maintaining commercial records and documentation
- Working closely with operational and project delivery teams

Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience within a Quantity Surveying or Assistant Quantity Surveying role
- Experience working within construction, fit out, joinery, interiors, or refurbishment environments would be advantageous
- Degree qualified or currently studying Quantity Surveying (preferred but not essential)
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Eagerness to learn and develop professionally
- Good commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment
