Quantity Surveyor

Our client is a well-established and growing specialist fire prortection contractor with an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality projects and building long-term client relationships. Continued growth has created the opportunity to recruit an ambitious Quantity Surveyor who is eager to progress into a Commercial Manager role and play a significant part in the future success of the business.

Our client is not just looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor - they're looking to appoint their future Commercial Manager.

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious QS who wants to take ownership, develop their commercial expertise, and progress into a senior leadership role within approximately 12 months.

As the business continues to grow, you'll work closely with senior management, gaining exposure to every aspect of commercial management. Once established in the Commercial Manager role, you'll play a key part in building and mentoring the next generation of talent by supporting and developing junior Quantity Surveyor's.

Initially, you'll be responsible for the commercial management of multiple construction projects, ensuring profitability while maintaining excellent client relationships.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing project costs from tender through to final account.
• Preparing valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
• Procuring subcontractors and managing subcontract packages.
• Monitoring project budgets, forecasts and cost reporting.
• Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities.
• Negotiating variations and contract changes.
• Working closely with Contracts Managers, Project Managers and Directors.
• Producing monthly commercial reports.
• Supporting the continued growth of the business through strong commercial control.

We're looking for someone who is:

• Experienced as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
• Commercially astute with strong financial awareness.
• Confident managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• An excellent communicator and relationship builder.
• Organised, proactive and solutions-focused.
• Ambitious and motivated to progress into senior management.
• Keen to mentor and develop others as the business expands.

Experience within passive fire protection or specialist subcontracting would be advantageous but is not essential.
