Senior Quantity Surveyor (Freelance) - Energy / Overhead Lines (OHL)
Location: Bristol/Taunton
Rate: 550 per day
Duration: 6-month contract
Type: Freelance/Contract
TRIbuild Solutions is recruiting on behalf of a leading energy infrastructure client for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a commercial team supporting overhead line (OHL) energy projects across the Bristol/Taunton region. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior QS with strong energy or utilities sector experience to take a lead commercial role across a live project portfolio.
The Role
- Lead the preparation of reports, claims, and commercial documentation within agreed timescales
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with Business Unit and Project Managers
- Monitor project risks, maintain risk registers, and oversee subcontractor/supplier management including quotations, valuations, variations, claims, and final accounts
- Manage compensation events, contract costs, and project profitability
- Identify and manage variations, delays, and claims
- Drive financial reporting, forecasting, and process improvements
- Attend project meetings and maintain commercial records and manuals
- Work closely with commercial and project teams to ensure smooth project delivery
- Ensure compliance with company procedures and Health & Safety, Quality, and Environmental policies
- Undertake additional duties as required to support business and customer needs
What We're Looking For
- Substantial Quantity Surveying experience, ideally within the energy, utilities, or OHL sector
- Strong understanding of NEC or similar contract forms, including compensation events
- Proven track record managing subcontractor accounts, valuations, and final accounts
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Comfortable working across the Bristol/Taunton region
