Graduate Quantity Surveyor
Location: Gloucester
Salary: 28,000 per annum
Our client is a well-established, medium-sized main contractor based in Gloucester. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit a Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Quantity Surveying graduate to begin their career with a supportive construction business, working alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors and gaining hands-on exposure to a variety of live projects.
The successful candidate will assist with the financial and commercial management of construction projects from initial tender stage through to final account.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with the preparation of project cost plans and budgets
- Supporting the procurement of subcontractors and suppliers
- Preparing and issuing tender enquiries
- Comparing and analysing subcontractor quotations
- Assisting with valuations, payment notices and cost reporting
- Monitoring project costs against budgets
- Supporting the management of variations and change control
- Attending site and commercial meetings
- Assisting with the preparation of final accounts
- Maintaining accurate commercial records and project documentation
Candidate Requirements
- A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline
- A genuine interest in developing a career as a Quantity Surveyor
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Good communication and organisation skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Confident using Microsoft Excel and other standard software
- Previous construction experience would be beneficial but is not essential
- A full UK driving licence would be advantageous
