Senior Structural Engineer / Principal Structural Engineer
Cardiff Permanent Structural Engineering
An established engineering consultancy is looking for an experienced Senior Structural Engineer or Principal Structural Engineer to join its Cardiff team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Engineer ready to progress into a Principal role, or an experienced Principal looking for greater responsibility, varied projects and long-term career development.
The Role
You'll be involved in:
- Structural design across a varied range of projects.
- Taking projects from concept through to detailed design and completion.
- Producing calculations, drawings, specifications and technical reports.
- Working with architects, clients, contractors and other consultants.
- Providing technical input and design solutions.
- Reviewing designs and ensuring technical quality.
- Supporting and mentoring junior engineers.
- Attending client, design and site meetings.
- Taking increasing responsibility for project delivery and technical decisions.
Projects are likely to include residential and commercial developments, social housing, care homes, industrial and commercial buildings, renewable energy and wider infrastructure projects.
About You
We're looking for a Structural Engineer with:
- Strong structural design experience.
- Experience working across a range of building projects.
- Good knowledge of relevant UK design standards and regulations.
- Experience with structural analysis and design software.
- Ability to produce clear technical calculations and reports.
- Strong communication and client-facing skills.
- The ability to manage projects and take ownership of technical delivery.
Chartered status is desirable, but applications are welcomed from engineers working towards Chartership or with equivalent experience.
Career Progression
For the right Senior Structural Engineer, there is a clear opportunity to progress towards Principal Engineer, with support, mentoring, CPD and professional development provided.
At Principal level, you'll have greater responsibility for technical delivery, client relationships, project management and supporting the wider engineering team.
