Quantity Surveyor - Civils & Infrastructure

QUANTITY SURVEYOR

Location: Horsham, West Sussex
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join an established contractor based in Horsham, West Sussex.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering and industrial projects, with experience managing the commercial aspects of projects from tender and procurement through to final account.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the commercial aspects of civils and industrial projects from start to finish.
• Prepare and monitor project budgets, forecasts and cost reports.
• Manage valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
• Identify, price and manage variations and additional works.
• Prepare and manage subcontractor packages, orders and payments.
• Review subcontractor accounts and agree final accounts.
• Monitor project costs and commercial performance.
• Assist with tendering, estimating and procurement.
• Review contracts, scopes of work and commercial obligations.
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Attend client and project meetings.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Site Teams and Directors.
• Carry out regular site visits to monitor progress and commercial performance.
• Prepare regular commercial reports for senior management.
• Ensure projects are delivered in line with contractual and commercial requirements.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor.
• Strong civils / civil engineering background.
• Experience working on industrial projects.
• Good understanding of construction contracts and commercial management.
• Experience with valuations, variations, subcontract accounts and final accounts.
• Strong cost control and financial reporting skills.
• Good understanding of procurement and subcontract management.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Commercially aware with good attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Relevant Quantity Surveying or construction qualification.
• Full UK driving licence.

This is a hands-on Quantity Surveyor role suited to someone who can take ownership of the commercial side of projects, work closely with operational teams and build strong relationships with clients and subcontractors.
