An opportunity has arisen to join an established property and construction consultancy with a strong reputation across the UK. Due to continued growth within the Building Surveying team, they are looking to appoint an Assistant Building Surveyor to join their Birmingham office.

The consultancy provides a full range of Building Surveying services to a varied client base, with projects and instructions delivered nationally. This is a client-facing role offering the opportunity to work across a broad range of professional and project-based Building Surveying services.

Assistant Building Surveyor Salary & Benefits:

  • 40,000 - 50,000 salary, depending on experience

Assistant Building Surveyor Job Overview:

The successful Assistant Building Surveyor will join an established team and support the delivery of a varied portfolio of Building Surveying instructions. The role will provide exposure to both professional and project work, with opportunities to develop existing technical knowledge and take increasing responsibility for client delivery.

The role will include:

  • Condition surveys and building inspections

  • Building pathology and defect diagnosis

  • Dilapidations

  • Party Wall matters

  • Landlord and Tenant work

  • Developing client briefs

  • Preparing specifications and schedules of work

  • Technical and statutory compliance, including Planning and Building Regulations

  • JCT Contract Administration, including Minor Works and Intermediate contracts

  • Supporting project delivery from inception through to completion

  • Liaising with clients, contractors and other professional consultants

  • Attending site and client meetings

  • Preparing reports and professional documentation

  • Assisting with project cost control

  • Working across nationally based projects and travelling as required

Assistant Building Surveyor Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years' post-degree Building Surveying experience

  • RICS-accredited Building Surveying degree

  • Currently working towards final APC assessment or recently sat APC

  • Working knowledge across a range of core Building Surveying services

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Confident and professional approach, particularly when client facing

  • Good negotiation and interpersonal skills

  • Strong numeracy and attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a wider team

  • Full clean UK driving licence

  • Access to your own vehicle

  • Willingness to travel nationally
