Bennett & Game are representing a growing and well-established construction consultancy who are seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their Northern team.

The successful candidate will join a business providing professional Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management and wider construction consultancy services across a broad range of sectors. Their project portfolio includes residential, healthcare, commercial, education, refurbishment and fit-out schemes, offering exposure to varied and interesting work.

This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring Quantity Surveyor looking to develop their career within a supportive and growing team. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors, Senior QSs and Directors, gaining hands-on exposure to a diverse project portfolio while building the skills to progress into a full Quantity Surveyor role over time.

• Salary: 30,000 to 40,000 depending on experience
• Hybrid working, typically 1 day per week from home

Assistant Quantity Surveyor Position Overview

• Support Senior Quantity Surveyors with the delivery of pre and post-contract QS services across a varied project portfolio
• Assist with cost planning, estimating, tender documentation and Bills of Quantities
• Help with procurement processes and the administration of subcontract packages
• Prepare interim valuations, variations, cost reports and final account information under supervision
• Carry out measurement from drawings and specifications
• Support monitoring of project costs and commercial reporting
• Attend client, site and project meetings alongside senior colleagues
• Build knowledge and experience across the full QS lifecycle, taking on increasing responsibility as you develop

Assistant Quantity Surveyor Position Requirements

• Some previous experience in a Quantity Surveying, Commercial or Cost Management role within construction
• Degree, HNC, HND or working towards a qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or Construction Management
• Working knowledge of measurement, valuations and cost reporting basics
• Main contractor or contractor-side exposure would be advantageous
• Strong numeracy, accuracy and attention to detail
• Confident communicator, comfortable liaising with internal colleagues and site teams
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and confident learning new systems
• Proactive, methodical and genuinely interested in developing a long-term QS career
